Balance is a Human Right™
ABOUT US
We believe that balance is a human right.
At Equilibrio, we believe deeply in balance. Balance in our bodies. Balance for ourselves and for our babies. Balance for more ease in pregnancy and balance for a more positive experience in birth. Balance for wherever life takes us.
Our mission is threefold. To teach birthing people and professionals around the world how to restore balance. To make the knowledge and tools for balance widely accessible. And to profoundly improve pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences and outcomes.
We believe in empowering you to restore balance.
Balance is the ability to feel good. In the childbearing year, it's the ability for our babies to have space and for pregnant people to feel comfortable and at ease. Feeling good in pregnancy and birth allows you to have a deeper connection with your own self, as well as with your baby.
In our pursuit for more balance and better outcomes, we developed advanced bodywork and internal techniques based on the most up-to-date understanding of soft tissue anatomy and physiology, hematology, neuroendocrinology, and neurological function.
We’re blending bodywork with birthwork, expertise with agency, precision techniques with holistic wellness. Join us in our mission to restore balance.
Hi, I’m Rachel!
Mom, partner, midwife, bodyworker, anatomist, and the Founder of Equilibrio, I am deeply driven by my belief that balance is a human right.
In my professional life, as a midwife and bodyworker, clinical anatomist, clinical birth researcher, and international teacher, I have learned slowly - with over 18 years of experience in these fields - how to better listen to babies.
Babies speak to us through our bodies in pregnancy and birth.
By learning to listen, I can better meet the baby’s needs, which brings more comfort to my clients, and significantly better experiences of pregnancy and birth, with improved outcomes.
In my personal life, I have experienced four pregnancies, including symphysis pubis pain in all four of them, and asynclitism in the midpelvis in one of my births. By listening to my baby and to my body, I was able to restore my own balance consistently through all of these experiences. Whether this resolved the issue fully after one time, or needed daily or weekly balance repetition, it changed my whole experience from one of pain and challenge, to one of positivity and deep connection, with myself and with my baby. Balance allowed me to keep working, traveling, being the mom I wanted to be, and staying connected to myself and my partner the whole time.
Not every symptom can be resolved independently, and for that, we offer expert training to professionals who can then provide more advanced treatments. However, as much as possible, I want the level of personal autonomy that I experienced to reach every person in the childbearing year, so that each of us can restore balance for ourselves during pregnancy and birth, for experiences that are more positive, more connected, and more fulfilling.
